Our large assignment for the week was to research a Greek myth and either modernize it, give it a twist, or represent it as it is seen in history. Having learned about a few myths in my philosophy class, and being in wine country, I thought that it was only fair to reincarnate the god, Dionysus and his portrayal of wine. My beautiful model and good sport was Kristi. She did anything and everything that I asked of her, including smoking a cigar, renting four-wheelers, and sitting in piles of garbage. I chose to represent Dionysus in the female form, showing the dark side of wine, and including and portraying a following of people who want to be just like her.

Reading Note Option 1
I chose this picture for week three reading note because I shot at night and obviously with low light. I had use a tripod in order to capture this image and expose it correctly. At first I tried to capture it without a tripod and it left the image very blurry and not recognizable. The contrast between the black of the background and the bright in the foreground really make the image pop and create a unique composition.

Reading Note Week 2 Option 3
I chose to use portraiture as my reading note this week. This guy was amazing to shoot photos of. It was really difficult to choose a photo because I got a lot of good ones. He was very receptive to the idea of being photographed because he just finished some photography classes. I took some photos of him without his sunglasses but he stopped me so he could put them on and it changed the entire feeling of the photos. His glasses really helped bring out his natural personality.
It was difficult to get his face to be bright enough without completely blowing out the background. I had to bump up my ISO to 1600 in order to capture everything in a good light. The shutter speed was 1/800 and the aperture was f/13. I tried a few different shutter speeds and apertures but this seemed to get the images that I wanted.

The Nightlife: Kamari Style
The assignment for today was to research one of four given websites on traveling, wine, food, or architecture and shoot photos that would go along with a story that was being written for that site. Since I have been living in a new place for a couple of weeks now, I chose to shoot for the traveling site, Conde Nast Traveler and portray the nightlife of Santorini. There is one main strip of bars, restaurants, and shops, in Kamari where all the tourists and locals seem to hang out. I wanted to portray the life and energy of the strip in the photos for the site.
